Art I Course description:
This is an introductory course to the visual arts. The content covers a variety of concepts and drawing media, painting and color theory, three-dimensional design, pottery, calligraphy and techniques in perspective. Students learn about art history and visual art careers. This course is a prerequisite course for advanced art classes.
Classroom Rules:
At any time a student can be sent out of the classroom if I feel that they have went beyond a teacher warning, or detention. Also, if current working situation doesn’t suit the best environment in the class, then a student can be moved at any time to better equip the student to learn.

Projects= 50% Exams/Quizzes = 25% Sketch book/miscellaneous assignments=25%
Late Work Policy/Practice
Late assignments will be accepted with no deduction of the maximum possible points from the score earned up to seven calendar days prior to the final exam.
Sketchbook: Students will be required to work on a sketchbook. Sketchbooks will be given periodically throughout the semester. Each sketch will have a theme, which will be given a week in advance. Students should spend at least an hour on a sketchbook.
Music Policy: Students will be allowed to listen to music w/ headphones during “Student work time”. They are not allowed to listen to music during presentations, demonstrations, or anytime I am talking to the group or to students individually. Students are not allowed to listen to music on devices outside of their Netbooks. I may use cues to grab the attention of the students so that you know that I want your attention, you will be required to remove headphones from both ears. (i.e., I shut the lights off. Remove headphones.) Failure to obey the music policy will make the student or whole class ineligible to listen to music. At anytime if I feel the talking has increased over the level of work we will forfeit the use of music.

Art 2 Course overview:
Class Level: 10, 11, and 12 Prerequisite: Art I
This course is designed to further develop the concepts and skills learned in art one and is available for second level art students. Students will use the skills and techniques learned previously to enhance artwork in two and three-dimensional design using a variety of different media. The two-dimensional media includes graphite, charcoal, pastels, color pencil, acrylic, watercolor, and ink techniques. Three-dimensional work explored in this class includes ceramics, foam sculpture, along with non-traditional sculpture materials. The student will develop an ability to make effective choices concerning media, techniques, subject matter, methods of interpretation, and compositional design. This course is a prerequisite for ART 3.

Each student will use their prior knowledge in the previous courses to investigate more thoroughly two-dimensional and three-dimensional projects. Students must show initiative and good work habits in addition to being interested in art.

4. Observe all the rules in the student handbook. - Once you enter the classroom gather your materials, take your seat and begin working.
- Keep the talking to a minimum while a lesson is being presented or notes are being taken.
- Students are not to leave the classroom without the teacher's permission.
- No cell phones, or cameras unless it is for an assignment given by the instructor.
- Laptops and tablets used only for resources, not allowed to use them otherwise.
- Clean-up of materials and tools at the end of class is mandatory. You will stay after class without a note to your next class.
- Verbal warning.
- 2nd offense the student will receive a teacher detention. (10 minutes during FLEX)
- 3rd offense student will receive a school detention.
- 4th offense students will be sent to the office.
